New Route DVOA Metric Identifies Jaxon Smith-Njigba as Top Receiver in the NFL

FTN, a leading source for football analytics, has released its groundbreaking Route DVOA (Defense-adjusted Value Over Average) and Route DYAR (Defense-adjusted Yards Above Replacement) metrics, offering a more accurate assessment of receiver performance. Unlike traditional DVOA, which measures value per target, Route DVOA measures value per route run, factoring in a receiver’s ability to get open and earn targets.

“We believe Route DVOA is a better gauge of receiver quality and provides more consistent and predictive results from year to year,” said [Analyst Name/FTN Spokesperson – Replace with actual name/info if available]. “While we are still refining our automated updating process, we’ve compiled the data through Week 11 of the 2025 season, and the results are compelling.”

The data highlights Seattle Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba as having an exceptional season. His Route DYAR of 744 through Week 11 surpasses all receivers’ totals through Week 13 of the previous season, including Amon-Ra St. Brown’s 540. Puka Nacua is also exceeding last year’s results with fewer games.

The new metric also reveals significant differences in player rankings compared to standard receiving DVOA. Receivers like Ja’Marr Chase and Davante Adams, who draw a high volume of targets, see a noticeable jump in their DYAR. Meanwhile, Chris Olave, currently ranked 40th in standard DYAR, climbs to 14th in Route DYAR, showcasing his effectiveness in running routes and creating opportunities.

FTN subscribers will have access to the full rankings, including data on tight ends and running backs, as well as a comprehensive Google Sheet with all the numbers.
