Kochi Police Crack Down on Drug Use, Drunken Driving in City-Wide Operation

KOCHI, India – November 24, 2025 – The Kochi City police conducted a large-scale combing operation on Saturday, November 22, 2025, resulting in the registration of 185 cases under various charges and the apprehension of 168 individuals. The operation focused on curbing the sale and use of narcotic substances, as well as incidents of drunk driving.

According to District Police Chief Putta Vimaladitya, 20 cases were registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, in addition to the 49 cases registered the previous week. A significant number of arrests, 117 in total, were made for driving under the influence of alcohol. Furthermore, 21 cases were registered under the Abkari Act.

Chief Vimaladitya stated that these police actions and operations are planned to continue in the coming days.
