Kenny Omega Inspired by Samoa Joe’s Video Game Role, Eyes Own Non-Wrestling Gaming Debut

[City, State] – [Date] – AEW star Kenny Omega has publicly praised Samoa Joe’s recent appearance in SEGA’s “Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii,” calling it “very inspirational” and revealing his ambition to one day star in a non-wrestling video game role of his own.

Samoa Joe, known as the “Samoan Submission Machine,” lent his likeness and voice to the role of antagonist Raymond Law in the popular game, released in February 2025. Omega, a known video game enthusiast and fan of the “Like A Dragon” series, expressed his admiration for Joe’s achievement in an interview with SHAK Wrestling.

“Samoa Joe being in that game is very inspirational, and I hope to one day follow in his footsteps and have a fully fleshed out character that isn’t Kenny Omega that’s in a game,” Omega stated. “Whether I’m Kenny Omega in a game, not a wrestling game, I could be Tyson Smith I could be whoever, but it’d be cool. That’s one of my goals outside of wrestling that I hope to achieve.”

While Omega previously appeared as a special “Trooper Card” in the 2023 remake of “Like A Dragon: Ishin,” he seeks a more substantial, dedicated role in a future gaming project.

Omega’s comments highlight a growing trend of wrestlers crossing over into other entertainment mediums, and his desire to step into a non-wrestling game signals his ambition to expand his creative horizons.
