PATHANAMTHITTA, INDIA – November 22, 2025 – The scrutiny of nomination papers for the upcoming local body elections in Pathanamthitta and Kottayam districts of Kerala concluded on Saturday, the District Election Officer announced.
In Pathanamthitta, District Collector S. Prem Krishnan oversaw the verification for the district panchayat. Out of 124 nominations received for the district panchayat, 14 were rejected, leaving 110 valid nominations and 58 eligible candidates. Across the four municipal councils (Adoor, Pathanamthitta, Thiruvalla, and Pandalam), 485 candidates qualified. A total of 397 candidates were declared eligible to contest across the eight block panchayats, and 3,286 across the grama panchayats.
In Kottayam, authorities reported receiving 6,411 nomination papers. There was 106 candidates filed nominations, 569 candidates submitted papers for the block panchayats, 4,920 candidates submit nominations for the grama panchayats and 816 candidates filed their papers for the six municipal councils. Overall, the district recorded 11,101 sets of nomination papers across all local bodies.
