Guwahati, India – South Africa ended the first day of the second test match against India in Guwahati with a score of 247/6. Despite a shaky start, solid partnerships helped them build a respectable total at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium.

The South African innings began promisingly with openers Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton forming a half-century partnership. Jasprit Bumrah broke the stand by bowling Markram out for 38. Kuldeep Yadav then struck, removing Rickelton for 35 shortly after the tea break.

Temba Bavuma and Tristan Stubbs then steadied the innings with an 84-run partnership for the third wicket. Ravindra Jadeja dismissed Bavuma for 41. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Stubbs for 49 shortly after. Kuldeep continued his dominance, claiming his third wicket by dismissing Vian Mulder, leaving South Africa at 201/5. Mohammed Siraj took the final wicket of the day, dismissing Tony de Zorzi for 28.

At the close of play, Senuran Muthusamy was unbeaten on 25, with Kyle Verreynne on 1. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the Indian bowlers, with 3 wickets. Bumrah, Jadeja, and Siraj each took one wicket.

India made two changes to their playing XI, with Nitish Reddy replacing Shubman Gill and Sai Sudarshan coming in for Axar Patel. South Africa brought in Senuran Muthusamy for Corbin Bosch, opting for a three-pronged spin attack alongside Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer.
