Doha, Qatar – India-A’s campaign in the Rising Stars Asia Cup came to a dramatic end on Friday after a heartbreaking Super Over loss to Bangladesh-A in Doha. The match went down to the wire, with India-A managing a desperate tie on the final ball of the regulation innings, only to falter in the Super Over.
Chasing a target of 195, India-A’s batting innings started well, but a loss of wickets and rising pressure forced them to tie the game. Harash Dubey scrambling to get three runs.
In the Super Over, India-A collapsed, losing both wickets without scoring a single run. Ripon Mondal proved to be Bangladesh-A’s hero, claiming both wickets.
Tasked with just one run to win, Bangladesh-A also stumbled initially, losing a wicket on the first ball. However, a wide ball bowled by Suyash Sharma sealed their victory and a place in the final.
Earlier, Bangladesh-A posted a total of 194, powered by Habibur Rahman Sohan’s half-century (65) and a quick-fire 48 from Mehrob. Gurjapneet Singh was the pick of the Indian bowlers, taking 2 wickets for 39 runs.
For India-A, Vaibhav Suryavanshi (38) and Priyansh Arya (44) provided some spark with the bat, but ultimately fell short of guiding their team to victory.
Bangladesh-A will now face the winner of the second semi-final between Pakistan-A and Sri Lanka-A, scheduled for November 23rd. This marks the second consecutive year that India-A has failed to reach the final of the tournament.
