No. 5 LSU Women’s Basketball Faces Alcorn State, Aiming to Continue Dominant Streak

BATON ROUGE, La. – The fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team will look to extend their winning streak to six games as they host Alcorn State tonight at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center. The Tigers (5-0) are coming off a dominant 101-71 victory over Tulane, marking their fifth consecutive game scoring over 100 points. This streak ties an SEC record previously set by Coach Kim Mulkey’s national championship-winning LSU team in the 2022-23 season.

LSU’s offense has been firing on all cylinders, averaging a Division I-leading 559 points through five games – the most in the past 25 years. In their recent win against Tulane, the Tigers shot an impressive 55.1% from the field, while their active defense forced 22 turnovers, converting them into 31 points. Flau’jae Johnson led the scoring charge with 22 points, supported by strong performances from MiLaysia Fulwiley (20 points, 8 steals), Mikaylah Williams (16 points), ZaKiyah Johnson (14 points), and Amiya Joyner (12 points).

LSU has a perfect 8-0 record against Alcorn State in the series history. Their last meeting was in 2021, a decisive 100-36 victory for the Tigers.

The game is set to tip-off tonight. Fans can watch on SEC Network + or listen on the LSU Sports Radio Network.
