Lobos Head to Kansas City for Hall of Fame Classic

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The University of New Mexico Lobos men’s basketball team is heading to Kansas City this week to compete in the Hall of Fame Classic tournament at the T-Mobile Center. Their first challenge is a Thursday evening matchup against the undefeated Nebraska Cornhuskers (4-0) at 5:00 pm MT. This game and the subsequent game on Friday will be broadcast on NBCSN, Peacock, and the Lobo Radio Network.

The Lobos (3-1) are looking to bounce back from a recent loss to New Mexico State. Despite the setback, the team boasts impressive freshman talent, with three freshmen averaging double-figure scoring. Tomislav Buljan stands out, as one of only six freshmen nationally averaging a double-double. Nebraska, however, poses a significant threat, riding an eight-game winning streak – the longest active streak in the nation – stemming from their victory at the inaugural College Basketball Crown. The Cornhuskers are led by Pryce Sandfort, who is averaging 17.5 ppg.

Following the Nebraska game, New Mexico will face either Kansas State or Mississippi State on Friday. The championship game is scheduled for 7:30 pm MT, while the consolation game will be at 5:00 pm MT. The Lobos hold a 1-0 series lead against Nebraska, winning their only previous meeting in the 2009 NIT. They have played in Kansas City once before, losing to Kansas in 2013. After the tournament, the Lobos will return home to begin a three-game homestand, starting with Alabama State on November 26th.
