Thu Nov 20 23:40:00 UTC 2025: ## Devils Face Uphill Battle Against Panthers in Florida

SUNRISE, FL – The New Jersey Devils face a tough test tonight as they continue their five-game road trip against the defending two-time Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. Despite a recent loss to Tampa Bay, the Devils are hoping to recapture the success they found against the Panthers last season.

“Recognizing the opponent, respecting our opponent but also elevating our play,” says Devils defenseman Brenden Dillon, emphasizing the mentality needed to compete against the formidable Panthers. With star forward Jack Hughes sidelined for two months, the Devils will need a collective effort to generate offense and make the Panthers defend.

Coach Sheldon Keefe has shuffled the forward lines, placing Evgenii Dadonov alongside Ondrej Palat and Stefan Noesen with Paul Cotter and Luke Glendening, aiming to spark more offensive production from the depth lines. Arseny Gritsyuk continues on the top line with Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt.

The Devils received a boost with the return of Dougie Hamilton, Connor Brown, and Evgenii Dadonov from injuries. Despite a lengthy injury list, the Devils are currently tied for first place in the Eastern Conference with a 13-5-1 record.

The Panthers, however, are also dealing with significant injuries. Aleksander Barkov is expected to miss the entire season with a knee injury, and Matthew Tkachuk is out until mid-December. Brad Marchand, Sam Reinhart, and Anton Lundell have been carrying the offensive load in their absence. Further complicating matters, forwards Eetu Luostarinen and Cole Schwindt are also sidelined with injuries.

While the Panthers have had a tough start to the season, they are currently in the midst of an extended homestand, going 2-1-0 in the first three games. Brad Marchand brings an 11-game point streak into the contest.

The Devils will need to overcome the Panthers’ strong home record and capitalize on any opportunities to secure a victory on this crucial road trip.
