Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh – November 19, 2025 – The death toll in the stone quarry collapse in Sonbhadra district, Uttar Pradesh, has risen to seven, authorities confirmed Tuesday. Rescue operations have concluded after the recovery of the final body from the rubble.
The incident, which occurred at a quarry operated by Krishna Mining Works, prompted an immediate response from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF). District Magistrate B.N. Singh confirmed that all seven bodies have been recovered and identified.
The victims have been identified as Indrajit (30), Santosh Yadav (30), Ravindra alias Nanak (18), Ramkhelavan (32), Kripashankar, Raju Singh (30), and Gulab Kharwar (32).
The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a three-tier probe into the incident, involving the police, mining department, and district administration. Uttar Pradesh Minister Ravindra Jaiswal stated that the families of the deceased will receive approximately ₹20 lakh in compensation, and affected laborers will receive support through Labour Department schemes.
