New Delhi: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has launched a new “Aadhaar App” to help citizens authenticate Aadhaar cards and combat potential fraud. The app aims to protect individuals from scams involving fake Aadhaar cards used by individuals like tenants, employees, or those seeking loans.
The new app, distinct from the existing mAadhaar app, offers several features focused on privacy and security. Users can hide their Aadhaar number and date of birth for increased privacy. A key function is the ability to scan the QR code on any Aadhaar card to quickly verify its authenticity.
The app includes various features for personal Aadhaar management, allowing users to selectively hide details before sharing their card. In addition, Aadhaar holders can now easily lock and unlock their biometric data and review their biometric history directly within the app, providing greater control over their sensitive information.
The Aadhaar App is available for download on both Android and iOS app stores. UIDAI hopes the app will empower citizens to easily verify Aadhaar cards and protect themselves from fraud.
