Tue Nov 18 12:00:00 UTC 2025: ## Chargers’ Rookie RB Hampton Eyeing Return After Bye Week
Los Angeles, CA – Los Angeles Chargers rookie running back Omarion Hampton is aiming for a Week 13 return from injured reserve, according to head coach Jim Harbaugh. Hampton has been sidelined since Week 5 with an ankle injury, leaving him watching from the sidelines while fellow running back Kimani Vidal has stepped up and seized the opportunity in his absence.
Hampton initially took over as the lead back after veteran Najee Harris suffered a season-ending Achilles tear. However, just two weeks later, Hampton sustained his own injury, forcing him to the injured reserve.
“We’re not expecting him back until after the bye week,” Harbaugh stated regarding Hampton’s return. While he was eligible to return as early as Week 10, the team has yet to open his practice window, a necessary step before he can rejoin the active roster.
Despite Hampton’s absence and injuries to key players, the Chargers have maintained a solid ground game, thanks to Vidal’s performance. While depth has become a concern, Vidal and Haskins have effectively shared the backfield duties, demonstrating the team’s ability to run the ball even without their top two backs.
Hampton was observed working on the sidelines at a recent practice, a promising sign for his recovery. Chargers fans and the coaching staff alike are eager to see him back on the field and contributing to the team’s postseason push. The rookie will hope to contribute to the surging Chargers, and a postseason run.
