NEW YORK, NY – As “Wicked: For Good,” the highly anticipated sequel to last year’s blockbuster “Wicked,” prepares to hit theaters on November 21st, 2025, fans are gearing up for a deeper exploration of the iconic musical’s Act II. Composer Stephen Schwartz, the creative force behind the original Broadway score and the new film adaptations, is providing insights into the meanings and fun facts surrounding the movie’s music.
Act II features many moving masterpieces, including the sequel’s namesake, the stunning duet “For Good,” and the chilling “No Good Deed.” Schwartz has also penned two original tracks for the film: “No Place Like Home,” sung by Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba, expressing her conflicted love for Oz, and “The Girl in the Bubble,” performed by Ariana Grande’s Glinda, highlighting the character’s evolution.
Schwartz collaborated with Winnie Holzman, creator of My So-Called Life, to write the film, and the composer says, “It’s really the relationship between these two women that’s the heart and core of the story.”
In addition to the original Broadway score, fans will be able to hear the film features two brand new songs written by Schwartz: “No Place Like Home”, sung by Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and “The Girl in the Bubble”, sung by Glinda (Ariana Grande).
The film promises to delve deeper into the complexities of Glinda and Elphaba’s relationship, with songs like “I Couldn’t Be Happier” showcasing Glinda’s internal conflict and the impact of her choices. “No Good Deed” captures Elphaba’s desperation and the consequences of her actions, while “March of the Witch Hunters” reveals Boq’s bitterness and his pursuit of revenge.
