The victim, identified as Avinash, met the woman, identified as Kavipriya, 24, on a dating app approximately two months ago. The pair met at a restaurant in Indiranagar on Saturday for dinner and drinks, after which they decided to check into a nearby hotel.

According to the police complaint, Kavipriya ordered food online and offered Avinash a glass of water. After drinking the water, Avinash reportedly lost consciousness. Kavipriya then allegedly stole 28 grams of gold jewelry worth ₹3,22,000, a 30-gram gold bracelet worth ₹3,45,000, ₹10,000 in cash, and an Apple smartwatch worth ₹12,000.

Police investigations revealed that Kavipriya and her boyfriend, Harshavardhan, 25, also met on a dating app. Both hail from Karur in Tamil Nadu. The couple allegedly accrued debts through loan apps in order to maintain a luxurious lifestyle. Unable to repay the loans, they devised a plan to target victims through dating apps, according to authorities.

Police have registered a case of theft and cheating against Kavipriya and are currently working to locate and apprehend her.
