Brady Haunted by “Philly Special” PTSD Ahead of Vikings-Bears Broadcast

Minneapolis, MN – Tom Brady, legendary quarterback with seven Super Bowl rings, admitted that the Philadelphia Eagles’ infamous “Philly Special” play continues to haunt him, triggering “PTSD” whenever he sees similar trick plays. Brady made the remarks ahead of broadcasting Sunday’s Vikings-Bears game at U.S. Bank Stadium, the very site of Super Bowl LII where his New England Patriots fell to the Eagles 41-33.

The game was marked by the Eagles’ daring fourth-down touchdown pass from running back Corey Clement to quarterback Nick Foles, a play known as the “Philly Special.” Brady also recalled his own dropped pass on a trick play attempt. However, a Brandon Graham strip-sack late in the fourth quarter proved to be the turning point, sealing the Patriots’ fate.

“Any time I see a trick play from the Eagles, I get PTSD,” Brady confessed. He humorously recounted how Graham, a fellow University of Michigan alumnus, often playfully reenacts the strip-sack whenever they meet.

Despite Brady’s impressive performance in Super Bowl LII, throwing for 505 yards and three touchdowns, the Eagles’ offense, led by Foles’s 373 passing yards and three touchdowns, proved too much to handle. Brady acknowledged the difficulty of slowing down Foles and the Eagles’ offense.

Brady also noted the unusual conditions surrounding Super Bowl LII, held in a frigid Minneapolis with temperatures below 10 degrees. He said the extreme cold limited outdoor activities and confined the teams to their hotels, creating a unique set of distractions.

While Brady and the Patriots avenged the loss a year later by winning Super Bowl LIII, the memories of Super Bowl LII and the “Philly Special” continue to linger, especially when Brady encounters enthusiastic Philadelphia Eagles fans.
