Tampa, FL – Tampa Bay Buccaneers Ring of Honor coach Tony Dungy has voiced his concerns about the team’s current mindset, particularly on the offensive side of the ball, following a disappointing loss to the New England Patriots.
Speaking on the “Football Night In America” podcast, Dungy stated that the “pulse of the city” is downbeat after the defeat. He emphasized the importance of establishing a strong running game against the Buffalo Bills in their upcoming game. However, Dungy believes the Buccaneers lack the necessary mental fortitude to execute that strategy effectively, especially with injuries impacting the offensive line and running back Bucky Irving.
“They don’t have the mentality right now that they can go ahead and win a game running the ball,” Dungy said. He urged head coach Todd Bowles to challenge the offensive line to adopt a tougher, more assertive approach.
Dungy’s comments highlight the challenges facing the Buccaneers as they head into a crucial matchup against a Bills team known for a soft run defense. The former Bucs coach believes that a shift in attitude is essential for Tampa Bay to find success on the ground and ultimately compete for a win in Buffalo.
