18 Pilgrims from Hyderabad Killed in Saudi Arabia Road Accident
Hyderabad, India – November 17, 2025 – Tragedy struck two families from Hyderabad, Telangana, as 18 of their members were killed in a road accident in Saudi Arabia while on the Umrah pilgrimage. The victims included several children, leaving the community in deep mourning.
According to relatives, Shaik Naseeruddin and his wife, Akhter Begum, along with other family members, had embarked on the pilgrimage with great anticipation. Another family, including Sabiha Begum, her son, daughter-in-law, and two young grandchildren, were also among those killed.
Nayeem, a relative coordinating with the family and government officials, expressed the profound loss and confusion surrounding the incident. Mohammed Ahmed, a relative of Sabiha Begum, recalled their joyous visit just days before the pilgrimage.
Telangana Minister Mohammad Azharuddin met with the grieving relatives, while Syed Ghulam Afzal Biyabani, Chairman of the Telangana State Haj Committee, assured full assistance to the families, despite the committee’s lack of jurisdiction over private tour operators. The committee also stated that they are speaking with the Telangana State government to provide information.
