Draymond Green Confronts Fan Over Angel Reese Taunts During Pelicans Game

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green had a heated exchange with a fan during Sunday night’s game against the New Orleans Pelicans after the fan repeatedly taunted him with chants of “Angel Reese.”

The fan, identified as 35-year-old Sam Green of New Orleans, told reporters he was heckling Green due to the player’s multiple missed shots and subsequent rebounds early in the game. Green reportedly missed five consecutive shots and rebounded the first four of those misses.

According to Sam Green, Draymond Green became agitated after continued chants referencing WNBA star and former LSU player Angel Reese. He alleges that Green shouted profanities and threatened physical violence if the taunting persisted.

Draymond Green, speaking after the game, claimed the fan was repeatedly calling him a “woman’s name.” He clarified that “It was a good joke at first, but you can’t keep calling me a woman. I got four kids, one on the way. You can’t keep calling me a woman.” He denied using profanity during the confrontation.

Video footage shows Green approaching Sam Green, standing inches away, and engaging in a brief conversation before officials intervened. Ushers spoke with Sam Green, but he was allowed to remain in his courtside seat with a warning.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr acknowledged the incident, stating he couldn’t comment extensively without knowing the specifics of the exchange. “As long as it doesn’t escalate, it’s fine [for a player] to go over and have a discussion,” Kerr said, adding that security could have intervened earlier.

Draymond Green has a history of on-court confrontations and has been fined for fan interaction in the past, including a $25,000 fine in 2022 for directing obscene language toward a fan. He has also been vocal about what he perceives as a lack of consequences for inappropriate fan behavior.

The NBA has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.
