Chennai, India – November 17, 2025 – A 34-year-old woman, Indumathi, tragically died in Avadi on Sunday evening after being struck by a car driven by her husband, Raja, 38. The incident occurred as Raja was attempting to park their newly purchased, second-hand vehicle at their residence on Pillaiyar Kovil Street in Konambedu.
According to the Avadi Police Commissioner’s Office, Raja, who had been taking driving lessons, was being guided by his wife as he reversed the car into their portico after returning from a temple visit with their family. In a devastating turn of events, Raja reportedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the car to accelerate and pin Indumathi against a wall.
Indumathi sustained severe chest and stomach injuries and was rushed to Avadi Government Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
