Sat Nov 15 17:40:00 UTC 2025: Delaware State Hornets Eye MEAC Title as Howard Bison Visit Alumni Stadium

DOVER, Del. – Delaware State University’s football team is on the cusp of potentially claiming its first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) championship since 2007, and their journey continues this Saturday, November 15th, as they host the Howard University Bison at Alumni Stadium.

The Hornets (7-3 overall, 3-0 MEAC) are currently undefeated in conference play and control their own destiny. A victory over Howard (4-6, 1-2) is crucial as it sets the stage for a pivotal season finale against South Carolina State on November 22nd, a game that could ultimately decide the MEAC champion and the conference’s representative in the Celebration Bowl.

“We can write our own destiny,” said Coach DeSean Jackson. “If we don’t handle our business after all the hard work we’ve done, it’s gonna be a disaster.”

Despite their impressive offensive stats – the Hornets lead the MEAC and rank 12th in FCS with 449.8 yards per game – Coach Jackson is wary of the unpredictability of MEAC matchups, particularly against a Howard team historically favored in this series.

“We’re going into games, these teams have been the bully to us,” Jackson stated. “It’s another opportunity. It’s gonna be a tough game. Howard’s gonna be the bullies because they’ve been beating Delaware State for the past years.”

Meanwhile, Howard Head coach observed that DSU “is a football team that’s hot. They’re playing with really good energy, they’re playing with swagger, they’re playing really good football in all three phases.”

Howard, despite struggling offensively this season, will present a challenge. The Bison are looking to play spoiler and disrupt Delaware State’s championship aspirations.

Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. Tickets are available at dsuhornets.com or at Alumni Stadium before the game, with prices starting at $10. The game will be broadcast on the Heritage Sports Radio Network (hsrn.com) and streamed on ESPN+ (subscription required).

The weather forecast predicts partly cloudy skies with temperatures in the low 50s. Hornet fans are encouraged to come out and support their team as they strive for a historic MEAC title.

Key players to watch include Delaware State running back James Jones, averaging 10.2 yards per carry, and Howard running back Anthony Howard Jr., who ranks third in the MEAC in all-purpose yards.
