Mon Nov 10 00:00:00 UTC 2025: New Zealand Clinches Thrilling Victory Over West Indies in Nail-Biting Finish

Nelson, New Zealand – New Zealand secured a hard-fought nine-run victory over the West Indies in Nelson, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match T20I series. The match, like two others in the last five days, went down to the wire, with Kyle Jamieson once again proving to be the hero for the Black Caps.

A resilient ninth-wicket partnership between Romario Shepherd (49) and Shamar Springer (39) threatened to steal the win for the visitors after a top-order collapse left them reeling. Chasing 178, the West Indies found themselves in dire straits at 88/8 in the 13th over. However, Shepherd and Springer launched a stunning counter-attack, smashing boundaries and injecting hope into the chase.

Requiring 12 off the final over, Jamieson held his nerve, dismissing Shepherd to seal the victory for New Zealand.

Earlier, New Zealand’s innings was anchored by Devon Conway (56) and Daryl Mitchell (41), who propelled the team to a strong position. However, a late collapse saw them lose six wickets for just 35 runs, finishing at 177/9.

Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi starred with the ball for New Zealand, taking three wickets and climbing to third place in the list of leading wicket-takers in men’s T20Is. Jacob Duffy also picked up three crucial wickets.

The series continues, with the West Indies looking to level the score in the remaining matches.
