Tej Pratap Yadav Declares Independence from Brother Tejashwi, Hints at Post-Election Alliance
Patna – Tej Pratap Yadav, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Yadav, has publicly declared a permanent split from his brother, Tejashwi Yadav, and the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Speaking during a campaign stop for his newly formed party, Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), Tej Pratap stated, “My relationship with my brother is over. I will never return to RJD till my last breath.”
Tej Pratap emphasized his desire to forge his own political path, separate from his brother’s influence. “I have taken a new path and gone on my own,” he asserted. While acknowledging his parents’ blessings, he clarified that his family relationships are distinct from his political ambitions.
Speculation about Tej Pratap’s future alliances arose after he was seen in conversation with BJP MP and actor Ravi Kishan at Patna airport. When questioned about post-election possibilities, Tej Pratap responded, “All options are open.” While a BJP spokesperson downplayed the meeting as a routine interaction, sources within the RJD suggest that Tej Pratap Yadav may be open to aligning with any party except the RJD if his JJD secures a significant number of seats.
The split follows Tej Pratap’s disownment by his family and removal from the RJD earlier this year after a controversial Facebook post involving a 12-year relationship. Since then, he has positioned himself as the head of a new political outfit and potential coalition-builder, distancing himself from the family legacy he once seemed destined to inherit. He now portrays himself as a dispossessed heir fighting for recognition.
Voters in Bihar head to the polls for the second phase on November 11th, with counting scheduled for November 14th. The outcome will reveal whether Tej Pratap Yadav’s gamble to carve his own path will pay off, or whether he will remain on the periphery of Bihar’s political landscape.
