Sun Nov 09 17:00:12 UTC 2025: Former Bangladesh Minister Alleges US, Clinton Family Involvement in Hasina Ouster

DHAKA, BANGLADESH – A former minister in Sheikh Hasina’s cabinet, Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, has accused the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Clinton family of orchestrating the unrest that led to Hasina’s removal from power in Bangladesh in 2024. In an interview with Russia Today, Chowdhury alleged a conspiracy involving USAID, the Clinton family, and the interim government led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus.

Hasina fled Bangladesh on August 5, 2024, fearing for her safety amidst widespread student protests and escalating violence. She is currently residing in Delhi. Chowdhury claims the unrest was deliberately orchestrated and funded to advance Western interests, pointing to a long-standing relationship between the Clinton family and the Yunus regime aimed at achieving regime change.

“There is a nexus between the Clinton family and the interim Yunus regime,” Chowdhury stated, alleging the clandestine funding of NGOs to destabilize the Hasina government. He also questioned the whereabouts of millions of dollars in USAID funds, suggesting they were used to fuel the unrest.

The United States has previously dismissed any involvement in the Bangladesh crisis as “laughable.” However, Chowdhury’s allegations echo previous accusations by Hasina, who had accused Yunus of “selling the nation to the US.”

The political upheaval in Bangladesh resulted in a significant shift in policy, with the Yunus administration reportedly aligning closer to Pakistan, a nation responsible for the 1971 genocide in Bangladesh. The July-August unrest, sparked by job quota disputes, resulted in at least 700 fatalities and reports of violence against Hindu minorities.
