CAPE CANAVERAL, FL – Despite the ongoing U.S. government shutdown, the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex remains fully operational, offering guests a chance to explore its exhibits and attractions without interruption. This includes the popular Kennedy Space Center Bus Tour, which takes visitors behind NASA’s gates to witness the history and future of space exploration. Special interest tours are also running as scheduled.
Visitors can experience the iconic Space Shuttle Atlantis, displayed in flight, and even catch a glimpse of the future of space travel with opportunities to witness a rocket launch.
Blue Origin is preparing to launch its New Glenn rocket, carrying the ESCAPADE payload, from Space Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station. ESCAPADE, a mission to study the interaction of solar wind with Mars’ atmosphere, promises to be a spectacular event.
The Visitor Complex offers several viewing locations for rocket launches, each providing a unique experience:
- Gantry at LC-39: This newly renovated, historic site offers a limited number of tickets for an unparalleled, close-up view of liftoff.
- Apollo/Saturn V Center: Adjacent to the Apollo/Saturn V Center, this location provides outdoor bleacher seating at the Banana Creek Launch Viewing Area. The center features Apollo Program exhibits and the Saturn V rocket.
- Main Visitor Complex: With general admission, visitors can access designated viewing areas within the main complex, offering live launch commentary and access to all exhibits.
For the upcoming Blue Origin launch, designated viewing areas will be available, with access to Lot 1 on the left after entering the admission gate.
“We’re committed to providing our guests with an engaging and memorable experience,” said a Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex spokesperson. “Even during the government shutdown, our doors remain open, offering a window into the past, present, and future of space exploration.”
