Sun Nov 09 01:50:00 UTC 2025: Travel Troubles Ahead: Bay Bridge Closure, Veterans Day Parade to Snarl Maryland Traffic This Weekend
Baltimore, MD – Maryland drivers should brace themselves for significant traffic delays this weekend due to a confluence of events, including the annual Bay Bridge Run, Baltimore’s Veterans Day Parade, and other local celebrations.
The eastbound span of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge will be completely closed on Sunday, November 12th, from 12:01 a.m. to 2 p.m. for the Bay Bridge Run. During this time, two-way traffic will be routed onto the westbound span, with intermittent use of the center lane to alleviate some congestion. The Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) is urging travelers to avoid the area during these hours, suggesting travel before 6 a.m. or after 6 p.m. to minimize delays.
Closer to Baltimore, the city’s Department of Transportation has issued a warning about potential delays related to the Veterans Day Parade on Saturday, November 11th. The parade kicks off just before noon at the Washington Monument in Mount Vernon, proceeding to War Memorial Plaza and concluding around 2:30 p.m. Parking restrictions and street closures will begin as early as 9 a.m., impacting several key routes. Detours will be in place, and even the Charm City Circulator’s Purple and Green routes will be affected from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Beyond these major events, the opening of the Inner Harbor Ice Rink and the Maryland Film Festival are also expected to contribute to increased traffic in Baltimore. Several Veterans Day celebrations across the state, including a parade in Columbia, Howard County, on Sunday morning, could also cause localized disruptions.
Drivers are advised to plan ahead, consider alternative routes, and allow for extra travel time throughout the weekend. Stay updated on traffic conditions through local news sources and the MDTA website.
