Bengaluru Hosts Launch of “Homecoming,” a Book Exploring Mental Health Journeys
Bengaluru, Karnataka – November 7, 2025 – A new anthology, “Homecoming: Mental Health Journeys of Resilience, Healing, and Wholeness,” was launched at the Bengaluru International Centre today. The book, compiled by Neha Kirpal of the India Mental Health Alliance (IMHA) and author Nandini Murali, features the deeply personal narratives of women navigating severe mental health conditions. The launch coincided with a pre-event for Manotsava 2025, India’s national mental health festival.
The book highlights the experiences of resilience, healing, and the pursuit of wholeness through lived experiences. Murali, who lost her husband to suicide, writes about the trauma of that loss, emphasizing the courage required to be vulnerable. Kirpal also shared her personal experience of loss due to suicide, and the processing and healing that followed.
Bakul Dua, head of programme development at IMHA, stressed that understanding and addressing the lived experiences of individuals facing mental health challenges is a social justice issue. Kavita Arora, co-founder of Children First, shared her experience of growing up with a schizophrenic mother, highlighting the complexities of understanding and coping with such experiences. The book hopes to offer a resonating reflection and discussion for all.
