Chennai – An eight-year-old girl was killed in a tragic accident in Tondiarpet, Chennai on Friday, November 7, 2025. The girl, who was riding pillion on a two-wheeler driven by her teenage cousin, was struck by a garbage lorry belonging to the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) on Kailasam Street.
According to the Traffic Investigation Wing police, Washermenpet, the lorry brushed against the two-wheeler, causing both riders to fall. The eight-year-old, who has not been publicly identified, fell under the wheels of the lorry and died at the scene. Her cousin sustained injuries.
“The girl riding the two-wheeler seemed to have lost balance, and the two fell off the vehicle,” said a police officer.
The lorry driver, identified as Saranraj, has been arrested and is currently in custody. The girl’s body has been sent to the Government Stanley Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The investigation is ongoing.
