APSPDCL Restores Power After Tirupati Flooding
Tirupati, India – November 8, 2025 – The Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (APSPDCL) announced the successful restoration of power to villages surrounding Tirupati following severe flooding caused by the overflow of Oluru Rayala Cheruvu Lake. Heavy rains caused the lake’s bund to collapse, submerging a 33/11KV substation in KVB Puram mandal and disrupting power to Kalathur, SL Puram, PCK Puram, Rangayya Gunta, Rajulakandriga, and Kotalamitta villages.
The flooding damaged 223 electricity poles and 78 transformers, impacting 2,093 services including homes, farms, and drinking water facilities. APSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director L. Sivasankar stated that restoration work began immediately after the floodwaters receded. “Our teams worked tirelessly to repair the damaged infrastructure,” said Sivasankar. By Friday night, 89 electric poles and all 78 transformers had been repaired, restoring power to 1,353 services. The remaining services were reconnected today, Saturday, November 8th.
Sivasankar praised the dedication of APSPDCL staff for their swift and effective response to the crisis. The restored power supply brings relief to residents and businesses affected by the flooding.
