GTA 6 Delayed Again, Now Aiming for November 2026 Release

New York, NY – Rockstar Games has announced a second delay for the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), pushing its release date to November 19, 2026. The game, initially slated for autumn 2025 and subsequently postponed to May 2026, now faces an additional six-month wait as Rockstar aims to deliver a polished experience that meets fan expectations.

“We are incredibly excited for players to experience the game’s setting of Leonida and a modern-day version of the Miami-inspired Vice City,” Rockstar said in a statement, expressing regret for the extended wait and thanking fans for their patience.

The news comes amidst controversy surrounding the dismissal of 31 Rockstar UK employees last week. The Independent Workers’ Union of Great Britain (IWGB) alleges the firings were an attempt to stifle unionization efforts, leading to protests outside Rockstar’s Edinburgh and London offices. Take-Two Interactive, Rockstar’s parent company, has yet to comment on the matter.

GTA 6 marks the next major installment in the iconic franchise since the release of GTA 5 in 2013, which remains immensely popular and the second best-selling game of all time. The game’s two trailers have offered glimpses into the story of protagonists Jason and Lucia, a criminal couple in Leonida, and the detailed open-world environment.

Rockstar has a history of delaying releases to ensure quality, evidenced by the previous postponement of Red Dead Redemption 2. The industry trend of increasing complexity and rising development costs has led publishers to prioritize polish. GTA 6 is poised to be one of the most expensive video games ever made, and is expected to generate record-breaking sales upon release.
