Sinner Steamrolls Zverev, One Win Away From Reclaiming World No. 1
Paris, France – November 1, 2025 – Jannik Sinner delivered a dominant performance at the Rolex Paris Masters, dispatching Alexander Zverev in a decisive 6-0, 6-1 victory in the semi-finals. The Italian star needed only 62 minutes to overpower a visibly fatigued Zverev, who was coming off a grueling quarter-final match.
With this win, Sinner advances to his first Paris Masters final and his ninth ATP final of the year. More importantly, he is now on the cusp of reclaiming the World No. 1 ranking from Carlos Alcaraz. A victory in Sunday’s final will see Sinner ascend to the top spot when the new ATP rankings are released on Monday. He previously held the No. 1 ranking for 65 consecutive weeks.
Sinner displayed exceptional form, finishing with nearly double the winners to unforced errors (23 to 12), highlighting his precision and control throughout the match. Zverev, in contrast, struggled to find his rhythm, recording only 6 winners and 20 unforced errors.
“I’m happy to be in the final, but it’s not how you want to arrive,” Sinner acknowledged in his post-match interview, recognizing Zverev’s physical struggles. “Playing against Sascha is always a special occasion, but today he was clearly not 100%.”
Standing between Sinner and the title is Felix Auger-Aliassime, who secured his place in the final with a 7-6 (3), 6-4 victory over Alexander Bublik. The head-to-head record between Sinner and Auger-Aliassime is currently tied at 2-2, with Sinner winning both of their 2025 matchups.
“He’s playing incredible tennis at the moment. He’s improved a lot, especially in the past months,” Sinner said of Auger-Aliassime. “I’m very happy for Felix. He’s one of the nicest guys we have on tour, and sharing the final with him is going to be special.”
The final promises to be a thrilling encounter, with the World No. 1 ranking and a coveted Masters title on the line. Furthermore, Auger-Aliassime will qualify for the ATP Finals if he wins the title.
