Bengaluru, India – November 3, 2025 – A 29-year-old domestic worker in Bengaluru has been arrested after allegedly killing her employer’s pet dog, Goofy, inside an apartment building elevator. The incident, which occurred on Kannur Road, was captured on CCTV, sparking outrage among animal lovers and the public.

The accused, identified as Pushpalatha, was reportedly seen lifting the dog by its leash and repeatedly smashing it against the floor of the elevator, resulting in the animal’s death. The footage then shows her dragging the lifeless body of the dog back to the flat.

Initially, Pushpalatha allegedly told the owner, Rashika K.R., that the dog had died mysteriously. Rashika, suspicious of Pushpalatha’s explanation, contacted the police, who reviewed the CCTV footage and confirmed the gruesome act.

Police have registered a case against Pushpalatha under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and section 325 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (mischief by killing an animal).

During interrogation, Pushpalatha claimed she was frustrated by the dog’s constant barking. Investigators also revealed that she had recently been warned for stealing valuables from the home. Police suspect the killing was an act of revenge. Pushpalatha had been working for the family since September, earning ₹23,000 a month.
