Trump Calls for End to Senate Filibuster Amid Prolonged Government Shutdown

Washington D.C. – October 31, 2025 – In a move that could drastically alter the legislative landscape, Republican President Donald Trump has urged Republicans to eliminate the Senate’s filibuster rule to break the current gridlock causing the ongoing government shutdown.

President Trump took to social media, stating it was time for Republicans to use their “TRUMP CARD” and enact the “Nuclear Option,” a phrase referring to abolishing the filibuster, which requires 60 votes to pass most legislation in the Senate.
