Virudhunagar, November 1, 2025 – The district administration of Virudhunagar announced today that it will be hosting a marathon on November 9th, 2025, aimed at cultivating a culture of physical fitness within the community.
Collector N. O. Sukhaputra released a statement detailing the event, which will feature different race lengths depending on age and gender. Male participants aged 18-25 will run 8 kilometers, while women in the same age bracket will run 5 kilometers. Men over 25 will tackle a 10-kilometer course, while women over 25 will also run 5 kilometers.
Attractive cash prizes are on offer for the top performers, with ₹5,000 awarded to the first-place winner, ₹3,000 for second, and ₹2,000 for third. Runners finishing in 4th to 10th place will each receive ₹1,000. All winners will also be awarded certificates.
School students wishing to participate are required to provide proof of age attested by their school heads by 6:30 a.m. on race day at the District Sports Officer’s office near the Collectorate. Winners will also need to submit a copy of the first page of their bank passbook for prize money deposit.
