NEW YORK, NY – TODAY Show weatherman Al Roker has been enjoying a restful break at his family’s Hudson Valley home this week, taking a temporary hiatus from his on-air duties. Dylan Dreyer filled in for Roker on Friday’s episode.
The 71-year-old meteorologist shared a video to Instagram capturing the vibrant autumn foliage surrounding his serene retreat. “I have always appreciated #fall as one of the more underrated seasons. But when I get to wake up and look outside and see what God and nature presents to us, I try to breathe deeply and appreciate it. A chance to recharge and reinvest in yourself and those around you. Hope you have a great #weekend. See you next week on @todayshow,” he captioned the post.
Roker’s absence coincides with the release of his wife, Deborah Roberts’, new book, “Sisters Loved and Treasured; Stories of Unbreakable Bonds.” The ABC News anchor celebrated the launch on Instagram, writing, “Finally the day is here. My celebration of sisters and all who love them is such a beautiful moment in my life… I’m eternally grateful and hopeful that it offers a light into the complex and life affirming world of sisters and sister friends.”
The couple’s 40-acre property, nestled in the foothills of the Berkshires, provides a welcome escape for the busy television personalities. Boasting an outdoor pool and expansive woodlands, the home has been a cherished haven for the couple for 27 years. Deborah Roberts described the estate to Berkshire Magazine as, “I associate this place with beauty, stillness, and filling up my soul.”
Roker, who has been with NBC since 1978 and the full-time TODAY Show weatherman since 1996, recently celebrated over four decades with the network. He expressed his continued passion for his work to Entertainment Tonight, stating, “I cannot tell you how much I look forward to [hosting TODAY]. Every day is a different day, and our audience who comes down to the TODAY Show, our crew, our producers, how do you give up something like this?” Roker affirmed that he has no plans to retire soon, declaring he’ll continue “until the wheels fall off.”
Fans can expect to see Al Roker back on the TODAY Show next week.
