Hollywood, CA – Sydney Sweeney is setting the record straight regarding the dating rumors that swirled around her and “Anyone But You” co-star Glen Powell during the film’s promotional campaign. In a recent interview, Sweeney insisted she and Powell did not intentionally play up their on-screen chemistry to generate buzz for the romantic comedy.

“The press did it themselves,” Sweeney told Variety. “There was no leaning in, per se.” The actress maintained that the media fueled the speculation, even exaggerating simple interactions between her and Powell.

Despite the rumors, Sweeney, who was engaged to Jonathan Davino at the time, emphasized the professional nature of her relationship with Powell. “The tabloids and journalists just created it and kept going. Even if we were just standing next to each other, it was, ‘They’re standing two inches apart!’”

However, Sweeney clarified that a strong connection exists between her and Powell. “Glen and I genuinely care for each other and have a love and respect for one another,” she stated. “I love being with him. And I think people just truly saw a really beautiful pairing.” She even hinted at the possibility of a sequel, stating that she and Powell would be open to returning for “Anyone But You 2” if the right script came along.

Powell previously acknowledged fans’ desire for a real-life romance, stating that “sometimes you just have to lean into it a bit.” However, the rumors reportedly contributed to the end of Powell’s relationship with Gigi Paris, who expressed feeling disrespected by the situation.
