UAE Land Forces Commander Visits India to Bolster Defence Ties
New Delhi, October 27, 2025 – Major General Yousef Maayouf Saeed Al Hallami, Commander of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Land Forces, began an official two-day visit to India today aimed at strengthening bilateral military cooperation.
The high-level visit underscores the commitment of both nations to deepen their long-standing defence partnership and explore new opportunities for collaboration, particularly in the areas of joint training and capability enhancement.
Upon arrival, Maj Gen Al Hallami was given a ceremonial welcome and received a comprehensive briefing on Operation Sindoor. He was also briefed by the Director General of Information Systems and the Army Design Bureau regarding India’s defence capabilities and the Indian Army’s Artificial Intelligence roadmap.
Tomorrow, October 28, Maj Gen Al Hallami will lay a wreath at the National War Memorial to honor India’s fallen soldiers. His itinerary also includes a visit to the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) where he will receive briefings on various indigenous weapon systems and equipment platforms. He is scheduled to meet with Dr. Samir V Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, to discuss potential areas of collaboration. Furthermore, Maj Gen Al Hallami will engage with representatives from Indian Defence Industries to explore matters of mutual interest.
This visit is viewed as a significant milestone in UAE-India defence cooperation, solidifying already robust ties and paving the way for a stronger, future-ready partnership focused on military engagement and regional security cooperation. The discussions are expected to contribute to enhanced interoperability and shared strategic understanding between the two nations.
