Tue Oct 28 01:00:00 UTC 2025: Chiefs’ Offense Feasts After Rocky Road, Fueled by “Everybody Gotta Eat” Motto

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After a tumultuous year and a half, the Kansas City Chiefs’ offense is finally firing on all cylinders, sparked by the return of wide receiver Rashee Rice and a team motto born from his charitable gesture: “Everybody Gotta Eat.”

Rewind to 2024, when Rice, in his hometown, was captured on video distributing pizza and water with the mantra, “Everybody gotta eat.” Little did he know, these words would resonate throughout the Chiefs’ locker room, becoming their rallying cry for the 2025 season.

The journey since then has been anything but smooth. Rice suffered a knee injury, and served a six-game suspension stemming from his involvement in a multicar crash, delaying the highly anticipated debut of the Chiefs’ revamped receiving corps featuring Rice, Xavier Worthy, and Hollywood Brown. Other set backs including Brown dislocating his collarbone on the first play of the 2024 preseason and Worthy dislocating his shoulder.

However, last Sunday’s dominant 31-0 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders showcased the potential of this dynamic trio. Rice led the team with seven receptions, 42 yards, and two touchdowns, proving his immediate impact.

The road to offensive cohesion has been paved with adversity. Last season saw quarterback Patrick Mahomes struggle with career-lows in key stats, coupled with a league-high number of dropped passes by his receivers. General manager Brett Veach and coach Andy Reid sought to alleviate the pressure on Mahomes by adding Brown and drafting Worthy. But the off-the-field incident involving Rice and injuries to key players threatened to derail their plans.

Despite the challenges, the Chiefs remained optimistic. Worthy’s return from injury helped unlock the offense, and Rice’s reemergence has added another dimension. Mahomes is distributing the ball effectively, and the offense is scoring at a high rate.

“It’s a glimpse of what’s possible and what’s to come,” Rice said after Sunday’s game, hinting at the potential of this fully realized offensive unit.

The team’s “Everybody Gotta Eat” motto, popularized by a fan and embraced by the players, reflects the unselfish attitude within the locker room.

Now, the Chiefs aim to continue their offensive surge in Monday night’s game against the Washington Commanders. With a healthy and motivated receiving corps led by Rice, they hope to solidify their status as the league’s most potent attack and chase another Super Bowl title. For Rice, who is eligible for a contract extension, staying out of trouble and becoming the true number one receiver is crucial for their long-term success.
