Wordle Players Face Stinky Challenge: Hints and Solution for Today’s Puzzle
Wordle fans were met with a potentially unpleasant word puzzle today, October 27, as the New York Times-owned game presented a particularly pungent challenge.
The puzzle, number 1591, required players to guess a five-letter word associated with a foul odor. Hints included the statement “This word might cause you to plug your nose,” and the definition: “Having a bad smell, as of decay; putrid.”
Wordle, created by Josh Wardle and acquired by the New York Times in 2022, challenges players to guess a five-letter word in six attempts. Green blocks indicate correct letters in the correct place, yellow indicates correct letters in the wrong place, and grey indicates letters not present in the word.
Tracy Bennett, the Times’ Wordle editor, previously stated that “any word is a bad choice,” implying all starter words can be useful, but the New York Times’ Wordlebot recommends “trace” as a solid go-to starter word.
Spoiler Alert! The answer to today’s Wordle (puzzle #1591) is “FOUL”.
