Mon Oct 27 02:16:07 UTC 2025: ## Norris Dominates in Mexico, Reclaims Championship Lead
Mexico City, Mexico – Lando Norris of McLaren delivered a commanding performance at the Mexico City Grand Prix on Sunday, claiming victory and seizing the lead in the Formula One drivers’ championship from teammate Oscar Piastri by a single point. Norris led from pole position, maintaining a comfortable gap throughout the race and finishing a massive 30.3 seconds ahead of second-place Charles Leclerc of Ferrari.
Norris’s win marks his sixth of the season and his first time leading the championship standings since April. The Briton expressed his satisfaction with the straightforward race, emphasizing his focus and successful start.
While Norris enjoyed a relatively drama-free afternoon, the race was not without its incidents. Max Verstappen, the reigning champion from Red Bull, finished third after an eventful start that saw him cutting corners and bumping over the grass. Lewis Hamilton, driving for Ferrari, endured a challenging race that included a 10-second penalty for leaving the track and gaining an advantage, ultimately finishing eighth.
Young Oliver Bearman of Haas impressed with a fourth-place finish, a career-best result for the Briton and the US-owned team. Piastri, despite finishing fifth, acknowledged his struggles in dirty air and focused on learning from the experience.
A late virtual safety car, triggered by Carlos Sainz’s spin and retirement, prevented Piastri from challenging Bearman for fourth place.
The constructors’ championship battle also saw a shift, with Ferrari moving back into second place, just one point ahead of Mercedes.
The race was marred by a near-miss incident in the pit lane, where Liam Lawson of Racing Bulls accelerated out of his pit box as marshals were crossing the track.
