Tragedy Strikes Chennai: Toddler Drowns in Bucket
CHENNAI, October 26, 2025 – A one-and-a-half-year-old boy tragically drowned in a bucket of water in Nandanam, Chennai on Saturday. The incident occurred at the Jogi Thottam Housing Board apartment complex where the family resides.
According to Chennai city police, Sriram and Santana Lakshmi, the parents of the victim, Dhanish, were at their residence when the incident took place. Sriram was at work, and Santana Lakshmi had taken the child to a neighbor’s house in the same building to inquire about their health. While Santana Lakshmi was speaking with the neighbor, Dhanish entered the bathroom and fell into a bucket filled with water.
After a brief search, the mother discovered the child in the bathroom. Dhanish was immediately rushed to a private hospital, but medical personnel pronounced him dead upon arrival.
The Teynampet police have registered a case and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. The community is in mourning after this unfortunate event.
