Sun Oct 26 08:20:00 UTC 2025: Dodgers Even World Series as Yamamoto Throws Complete Game; Manfred Downplays Labor Concerns

TORONTO – The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 5-1 on Saturday night, evening the World Series at one game apiece. Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitched a complete game, the first in the World Series in nearly a decade, showcasing a dominant performance that silenced the Blue Jays’ offense after their Game 1 victory.

“I love it,” said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts, praising Yamamoto’s throwback style and work ethic. “I love feeling that the starter is the best option to go six, seven, eight, and – what Yamamoto is doing – nine innings.”

Before the game, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred addressed reporters on a range of topics, downplaying concerns about upcoming labor negotiations. The current Collective Bargaining Agreement expires after the 2026 season, but Manfred stated, “I’m kind of focused on who’s going to win tonight… A year from now, we’ll have plenty of time to talk about labor.” Tony Clark, executive director of the MLB Players Association, said he expects negotiations to begin in the spring and dismissed lockout talk as premature.

Manfred also commented on recent gambling-related arrests involving NBA personnel and ongoing investigations into unusual on-field activity by two Cleveland Guardian pitchers. He emphasized the importance of data analysis and thorough investigations, stating, “The most important thing that we can do is make sure that we have systems in place that give us access to data, which puts you in a position to determine if there’s something aberrational going on.”

Finally, Manfred discussed the possibility of MLB players participating in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, noting logistical challenges but progress in discussions with the LA 2028 organizing committee and the Players Association.

The World Series now shifts to Los Angeles for Game 3 on Monday night, with veteran Blue Jays pitcher Max Scherzer scheduled to face the Dodgers’ Tyler Glasnow.
