Thu Oct 23 23:40:00 UTC 2025: Blues Roster Sees Shakeup as Sundqvist Returns, Mailloux Gets Another Chance Against Mammoth
ST. LOUIS – The St. Louis Blues are set to make several changes to their lineup as they wrap up their homestand against the Utah Mammoth on Thursday. Forward Oskar Sundqvist will make his season debut after recovering from a lower-body injury. Coach Jim Montgomery is excited about Sundqvist’s return, highlighting his “warrior mentality” and defensive prowess.
In addition to Sundqvist’s return, defenseman Logan Mailloux will re-enter the lineup after being a healthy scratch for the past two games. He will be paired with veteran Cam Fowler, who Mailloux hopes to learn from. Montgomery sees this pairing as beneficial for Mailloux’s development, emphasizing the importance of managing the game, a skill Fowler excels at. During his time out of the lineup, Mailloux spent time with Hall of Famer Al MacInnis and retired Blues defenseman Robert Bortuzzo, seeking advice and a fresh perspective.
Forward Jimmy Snuggerud will also be in the lineup alongside Pius Suter and Mathieu Joseph, looking to improve after limited ice time in the previous game. He’ll face his former college teammate, Logan Cooley, now with the Mammoth.
Montgomery has strategically assembled a line of Pavel Buchnevich, Robert Thomas, and Jordan Kyrou to match up against the Mammoth’s potent line of Clayton Keller, Nick Schmaltz, and Barrett Hayton. He wants Buchnevich, who will be playing in his 600th NHL game, to come out of his slump and regain his ability to score.
Goalie Joel Hofer will start for the Blues, with Jordan Binnington backing him up.
