“The Voice” Season 28 Kicks Off Battle Rounds with Surprise Twists and Star-Studded Mentors
LOS ANGELES, CA (October 14, 2024) – Season 28 of “The Voice” premiered its highly anticipated Battle Rounds last night on NBC, showcasing fierce vocal competitions and unveiling this season’s A-list mentors. Adding a fresh dynamic to the competition, contestants now choose their Battle Round partners, while coaches retain the crucial decision of song selection.
Viewers were treated to appearances by industry heavyweights lending their expertise: Lizzo joined Team Snoop Dogg, Lewis Capaldi supported Team Niall Horan, former coach Kelsea Ballerini returned to mentor Team Michael Bublé, and veteran coach Nick Jonas teamed up with Reba McEntire.
The revamped format immediately delivered captivating matchups. Team Snoop’s Natalia Albertini and YOSHIHANNA faced off in a powerful rendition of Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.” YOSHIHANNA’s uncanny Franklin-esque tone impressed the coaches, while Albertini’s yearning country twang and soaring high notes added a unique dimension.
The performance left Snoop Dogg in tears, praising YOSHIHANNA’s natural talent and Albertini’s courage. Ultimately, Snoop chose YOSHIHANNA, but didn’t let Albertini go, saving her to stay on Team Snoop.
Tune in to NBC tonight, October 14th, at 8 p.m. ET and the following day on Peacock for the next installment of Battle Rounds.
