Mon Oct 20 11:10:00 UTC 2025: Snoop Dogg Champions Diverse Families in New Children’s Song After “Lightyear” Controversy

Long Beach, CA – Rapper Snoop Dogg has released “Love is Love,” a song celebrating diverse families, on his animated children’s YouTube series, Doggyland. The move comes months after he sparked controversy for questioning the inclusion of a same-sex couple with a child in the Pixar film “Lightyear.”

The song, featuring a cameo from former “The Voice” contestant Jeremy Beloate, aims to teach children about the many forms a family can take. Lyrics emphasize that “Our parents are different/ No two are the same/ But the one thing that’s for certain/ Is the love won’t change.”

Snoop Dogg, 53, has partnered with GLAAD to further promote understanding and acceptance. He released a conversation with Beloate on October 16, coinciding with #SpiritDay, an anti-bullying initiative for LGBTQ youth. The pair discussed bullying, feeling like an outsider, and their musical collaboration.

“Love is Love’ is a record that my kids’ program ‘Doggyland’ presented me where… it’s teaching parenthood, is teaching the situations that kids – and the world – (are) going through right now in a beautiful way through song, dance, melody,” Snoop Dogg explained. “Just trying to get more understanding, clarity, on how we live and the way we live. And I felt like this music is a beautiful bridge to bringing understanding.”

The initiative marks a shift from Snoop Dogg’s comments on the “It’s Giving” podcast in August, where he expressed confusion over the depiction of a same-sex couple having a baby in “Lightyear.” He stated he was worried to go to the movies after his grandson asked him how two women had a baby together.

During the conversation with Beloate, Snoop Dogg also reflected on his own experiences with bullying and offered encouragement to those currently facing similar challenges. “The character we build from being bullied to overcome is what’s important,” he said.
