NEW YORK, NY – The New York Times’ popular word game, Connections, continues to challenge players daily, and today’s puzzle (#862) may require a little help from the periodic table. The game, which tasks players with grouping four words with a common link, has become a social media sensation, thanks to its accessible format and challenging puzzles.
Connections, created with the assistance of associate puzzle editor Wyna Liu, presents players with 16 words and requires them to identify four distinct categories. Guessing incorrectly results in a penalty, and players only have four attempts to solve the puzzle.
For those struggling with today’s Connections, hints are available online. Tips include focusing on the colors assigned to each category (yellow being the easiest, and purple being the hardest), shuffling the board for a fresh perspective, and considering common knowledge related to specific fields. Today’s puzzle featured a category of Periodic Table Symbols and another of Represented by Constellations.
Today’s Connections Solution:
- Affliction: BUGBEAR, COMPLEX, DEMON, HANG-UP
- Represented by Constellations: BIG BEAR, CENTAUR, HUNTER, LYRE
