**Trump Dominates Gaza Summit with Praise, Barbs, and Self-Admiration**

Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt – A summit ostensibly focused on the Gaza conflict in Sharm el-Sheikh was largely overshadowed by the presence and antics of former U.S. President Donald Trump, who dominated proceedings with a mix of praise, insults, and self-aggrandizement.

Arriving over two hours late, Trump immediately set the tone, showering certain leaders with compliments while delivering subtle jabs at others. United Arab Emirates Vice-President Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan was praised for his “lovely shoes” and wealth, while Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was told she was “beautiful,” despite Trump noting this would be the “end of your political career” in the U.S. He referred to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as a “tough” friend he can count on in times of need.

Trump lauded Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi as a “strong leader” and praised Egypt’s low crime rate in comparison to the United States. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán was praised despite many disagreeing with Trump’s views.

However, not all leaders received such favorable treatment. Trump dismissed Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ al-Sudani’s country as one “with so much oil it does not know what to do with it.” Keir Starmer of the UK was thanked for attending and asked to step back into the shadows. He corrected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s title from “president” to prime minister while adding, “at least I didn’t say governor.”

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, on the other hand, garnered Trump’s favor through effusive praise, even physically preventing Trump from interrupting his speech.

The summit ultimately highlighted Trump’s continued ability to command attention on the world stage, even in a setting ostensibly focused on a serious international crisis. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian abstained from the conference.
