**Flyers Seek First Win in Home Opener Against Panthers, Honor Legend Bernie Parent**
PHILADELPHIA, PA – The Philadelphia Flyers (0-1-1) are set to face the Florida Panthers in their home opener tonight at the Wells Fargo Center, aiming to secure their first victory of the season. This game marks the beginning of a ten-game stretch with nine home contests.
The Flyers are coming off a narrow 2-1 defeat against the same Panthers in Sunrise last Thursday, where Noah Cates scored the lone goal for Philadelphia.
Tonight’s game holds special significance as the Flyers will honor legendary goaltender Bernie Parent. The team will wear a memorial patch on their uniforms, and Parent’s iconic No. 1 has been painted behind the nets.
“There’d be no better way to celebrate the Hall of Fame goaltender than a win in his honor,” said head coach Rick Tocchet.
Defenseman Emil Andrae returns to the lineup after a strong performance with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the AHL. The team is looking for him to elevate his game at the NHL level.
Forward Owen Tippett, a former Panther, hopes to build off his power-play goal from Saturday and capitalize on the extra incentive of playing against his former team.
The Flyers will need to improve their discipline, having taken nine minor penalties in their first two games. “Excessive penalties tax the PK personnel and get other players who do not kill penalties out of the flow of play. The Flyers need to play a more disciplined game on Monday,” said Tocchet.
