Mon Oct 13 22:11:04 UTC 2025: ## Andhra Pradesh Poised for AI Boom with $10 Billion Google Data Center

**New Delhi/Visakhapatnam – October 14, 2025:** Andhra Pradesh is set to become a major hub for Artificial Intelligence (AI) infrastructure following the announcement of a groundbreaking partnership between the state government and Google. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony is scheduled for today in New Delhi, attended by key government officials and Google’s top global executives.

The centerpiece of the agreement is the establishment of Asia’s first 1-gigawatt hyperscale data center campus in Visakhapatnam, representing a near USD 10 billion (₹ 84,000 crore) investment. This project will form the cornerstone of the “AI City Vizag” initiative, a comprehensive plan integrating cutting-edge AI infrastructure, substantial data capacity, renewable energy, and global fiber-optic connectivity.

“This project is a transformative step for the future of Andhra Pradesh and a defining moment in India’s AI-driven growth,” said IT Minister Nara Lokesh ahead of the signing.

The data center will be directly linked to Google’s global network through resilient subsea and terrestrial systems, solidifying Visakhapatnam’s position as a critical node in India’s digital future. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw are expected to attend the event.

The project is estimated to contribute an average of ₹10,518 crore annually to Andhra Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) between 2028 and 2032 and support approximately 1.88 lakh direct and indirect jobs each year. Productivity spillovers valued at ₹47,720 crore are also projected over a five-year period, driven by Google Cloud’s ecosystem.

Prior to the announcement, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi to congratulate him on his 25 years in public service. Naidu praised Modi’s leadership in driving “NextGen GST reforms.” He also extended an invitation to the Prime Minister to the upcoming “Super GST – Super Savings” event in Kurnool and to preside over the CII Partnership Summit 2025, scheduled for November 14 and 15 in Visakhapatnam. The summit will showcase Andhra Pradesh’s growing industrial potential and its commitment to becoming a key investment destination in India’s economic landscape.

The data center project has been approved by the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) and will be facilitated through single-window clearances, renewable energy integration, and plug-and-play infrastructure. This initiative underscores Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to be at the forefront of India’s technological revolution.
