**KOCHI, INDIA – October 14, 2025** – The Ernakulam Rural police have launched an innovative anti-drug initiative, a week-long musical event, in Athani near Nedumbassery, Kerala. Titled “People’s Resistance,” the event aims to combat the rising drug menace through the power of music.

Starting Monday, October 13th, over 25 singers, both professionals and amateurs, have gathered daily from 5 PM to 9:30 PM at the Athani Airport Signal Junction to participate in a karaoke event designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and peddling.

“The event is aimed at using the powers of music to free society from the influence of toxic substances,” stated District Police Chief M. Hemalatha during the inauguration. Playback singer Joby John was the chief guest.
