**Ansari’s “Good Fortune” Offers Humorous Take on Familiar “It’s a Wonderful Life” Themes**

**Los Angeles, CA** – Aziz Ansari’s directorial debut, “Good Fortune,” hits theaters October 17, offering a comedic spin on themes reminiscent of “It’s a Wonderful Life” and “The Prince and the Pauper.” The film explores wealth, poverty, and the struggle to find meaning in a capitalist society through the story of Arj, a struggling gig worker played by Ansari, whose life is unexpectedly altered by a bumbling guardian angel, Gabriel, portrayed by Keanu Reeves.

When Gabriel intervenes in Arj’s life, he inadvertently causes Arj to swap lives with Jeff (Seth Rogen), a wealthy venture capitalist. The film follows their experiences navigating unfamiliar circumstances, with Keke Palmer playing Elena, a beacon of hope in Arj’s life.

While “Good Fortune” treads familiar ground, it’s buoyed by standout performances, particularly from Palmer and Reeves, who inject heart and humor into their roles. The film’s pacing is uneven, and its exploration of capitalism remains superficial, but it ultimately delivers a satisfying message about empathy and the importance of striving for a better world.

“Good Fortune” is a fine first entry for Ansari, and sort of feels like it could be an absurd, surreal episode of Master of None.
